Lots of fun, challenging, but lots of little pieces to be lost. The game is such that it needs all of the pieces to be what it was intended to be. As long as you can keep track of the many small pieces (watch out for the little ones (the pieces are small with sharp points -- would really hurt and probably damage a lot if swallowed!).

My teenage son and I love building puzzles and playing strategy games, such as classic games like chess, backgammon, or checkers, to more recently created games such as Blokus and Cathedral. But this game made no sense! Neither one of us could ever win it. Each game ended in a tie. The playing pieces were strangely shaped, and hard to visualize because they didn't exactly fit on the board where you expected them to. After an hour or so, we gave up. I don't think we'll ever play it again. This game will definitely end up donated. I wish we hadn't wasted our money on it.

We've really enjoyed playing this game--my nephews joined us for Christmas, and they had fun, too. The older boy, who's 7 1/2, wanted to keep going to see if he could fit all the pieces in like a puzzle, after we'd finished playing for points. The only fault I have with it is playing to 40 points--it seems like the game is over so quickly that way. It's helped my son look at spatial relationships better, because he has to choose a piece that fits, so it even has some educational value beyond just what the regular taking turns- or making a puzzle-type games have. I didn't know anything about this game when I bought it, just read the reviews, and I'm glad we have it now.

Disappointed in CirKis game

We were disappointed in the CirKis game we purchased. We have played it twice since purchasing it in December and haven't been interested in trying it again. We do enjoy Qwirkle very much and highly recommend it.

My grandaughters say this game is a lot of fun. It requires them to plan ahead when they are playing allowing them to develop reasoning skills without knowing it. We are always looking for games which increase their abilities while having fun.

We bought this kit for our 8 and 4 year old sons to combat summer boredom. So far the crystals have grown as stated on box and actually got much bigger than anticipated. I would reccomend this toy.

Doesn't grow crystals

My 10 year old son requested this gift for x-mas and is very disappointed. We tried 3 times to "grow" crystals. All we got were flat pancakes. We followed the instructions - but no crystals ever grew. After the 3 times, he was done with trying and, like I said, very disappointed.

Really excellent kit!

I bought this kit for my rock crazy wife, and she's having a blast making crystals! She's 64 years old. The crystals she's grown so far are nice sized. The instructions are crystal clear and simple. Measure the chemicals, measure the boiling water, and pour it in a plastic cup is more or less the difficulty of the experiments, and then wait a few days. The longer your willing to be patient, the bigger the crystals. I got her a bunch of little plastic jars to keep them in. She is really happy with this Christmas gift, and I'm having fun looking at them to! Think I'll buy another one.

I actually purchased 2 of these kits. I bought one for a gift for Christmas for one of my sons and one for myself and my youngest son to see what it would be like. IT WAS AND IS A BLAST. It grows really beautiful crystals. To get really good ones you need to wait longer than it says in the instructions but its worth the wait. You can watch them grow and change and its really educational and fun. I am definitely going to buy more when this kit is gone as its lots of fun. The only downside is that you can not purchase the different packs of crystal growing stuff separately if there is a crystal that you enjoy growing more.

I have had a problem getting any good crystal growing kits shipped to Canada. This is an excellent kit for a beginner or someone just looking to get the chemicals for other experiments. And no problem with customs about the contents.
